Well, we had our kernel Sprint this last Saturday, and I'm happy to say it was a complete success! Seven devices with over 14 testers. Not bad at all! Thanks to everyone that made this possible!

We got a new website! This site allows us to do a lot more with the web than we were able to before.

Please email us if something isn't working right. You will need to register an account here to submit tickets or other things -- see the "Request Account" link at the top.

Wing Linux and  Linwizard are teaming up this Saturday, July 31st at 9:00PM UTC for our very first kernel sprint. ali1234 from the linwizard project has graciously assembled a lot of material for the event  here. Go check it out -- we'll be working in #wing-linux and #linwizard on freenode, and we'd love to have you there to develop, test, or just hang out!

Well, it's been a while since we did our last release. Many of you are probably wondering what the status of the project is. We're not dead, that much is for sure! Since we're a volunteer project, life sometimes gets in the way, and that causes progress to slow. There's still plenty of good stuff on the horizon though, hopefully coming soon:

  • Sound support (thanks to the hard work of openandra)
  • Brand new shiny kernel (currently working on 2.6.35)
  • New Angstrom distribution
  • Hopefully, Android 2.x
  • More new devices supported

We can't do this alone though. If you have any development experience and would like to contribute, please let us know! We'd be glad to help you get started. We'd especially like talent in the following areas:

  • Linux kernel development
  • Android development

If this is you, send us an email or drop by our IRC channel on freenode.

Stay tuned, there's plenty coming!

Welcome!

Welcome to our project wiki. We aim to bring Linux and Google's Android operating systems to as many OMAP850-based devices as we can. Currently supported devices include:

For other devices, check out the  HTC Linux Project.

Events

After the successful kernel sprint, we'll be setting up another sprint soon. The details of the sprint are forthcoming, so stay tuned for details!

Current Release

The latest release is 0.4.2. Installation of Wing Linux is a snap -- Simply install the CAB file into Windows Mobile and you're good to go! Get it  here.

Currently, the Angstrom stable/2009 Linux distribution (as of November 2009) featuring the 2.6.25 kernel and debugging / development utilities operate on many devices, including the T-Mobile Wing / HTC Herald, along with a functional Android 1.5r4 installation. The system boots using the HaRet boot system, so no flashing is involved. The kernel is based on the work done by the  linwizard project.

Developers

If you have an OMAP850-based device and would like to help, we're looking for developers familiar with Linux programming and especially kernel development who are willing to help maintain, test, and develop for each of the different devices we support. Check our Development section to get started!

Social Stuff

We want to hear from you! Send us an email or drop by on  IRC at #wing-linux We've also got a  blog where we post lots of interesting stuff about the project, developers, and other stuff that comes to mind.
